By law, division of your property and debt is not modifiable after the divorce. Any property you receive during the divorce is yours: you can use it, sell it, spend it, give it away, destroy it. Any property your spouse has received during the divorce is his or hers: you cannot use it, sell it, spend it, give it away, or destroy it even if it’s in your possession. Any debt you receive during the divorce also becomes your responsibility, and any debt your spouse receives becomes his or her responsibility. Even if your circumstances have changed drastically, once a final order is entered neither party can modify the division of property and debt.
